VISUAL COMMUNICATION IN A CLINICAL SETTING
The Mana Taimahi programme—an initiative by the National Hauora Coalition in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development—was created to support people with health or medical conditions to stay in or return to work.
To help raise awareness in participating GP practices across Aotearoa, a set of print materials was developed, including posters and supporting infosheets. Design elements were guided by cultural relevance, with visuals and language tailored primarily for Māori and Pasifika communities.
A whakataukī (proverb) was chosen to reflect a holistic view of wellbeing and inspire those who wanted to move forward with their lives. Custom typography and subtle Māori and Pasifika patterns were woven through the design, while a fresh, inviting colour palette gave the materials clarity and visual energy—inviting engagement and trust in a clinical setting.

Roughly translated, Mana Taimahi means to grow your life force through work.
A simple wordmark was designed for the programme as it would need to sit alongside a number of partner logos including the NHC (National Hauora Coalition) and Work and Income New Zealand.
